Recovery time of anode front-end electronics on the GIF beam at CERN
(GIF 10, Gas "old" Ar(30%)CO2(50%)CF4(20%) )
Recovery time.
- to see the recovery time a difference (nsec) (lead_edge_2-lead_edge_1) of hits 2 and 1 measured by the multihit TDC was calculated. Since the width of the discriminator output pulse
(lead_edge-trail_edge) is
about 110-115 nsec and slightly different from channel to
channel ( max by 10 nsec, see the
Plot ) it was subtracted from the difference above
prior to filling the histogram. Data are from run 381 (HV=3.85, threshold THR1,GIF shielding factor of 10, statistics about 60,000 events, selected events have muon track in the beam chambers). Also shown is the occupancy of the channels in the first
plane of P2. (See the Plot ) . The observed
distribution should be a sum of two flat distributions in the region
up to about 300 nsec (the mean time the muon signal was registered by the 1000 nsec TDC
was about 300ns before the common stop) where the photon comes before or after the muon
(T.Ferguson, B.Smith, see details on the page of B.Smith
here ) and the flat distribution in the region after 300 nsec,
where the photon comes before the muon. The left edge of the distribution characterises the recovery time which is likely to be between 0 and 50-60 nsec.
